Through our assessment process we seek to understand why the person engages in the specific challenging behavior. Following the assessment, an individualized program is developed to increase skills and replace the challenging behavior with an alternative replacement that is easier to exhibit, is socially acceptable, and produces the same or similar outcomes. Reduction in severe challenging behavior through skill-focused treatment allows a person to learn a new skill and contact social experiences that were once previously inhibited by the challenging behavior. We believe that everyone deserves to live a life free of challenging behavior.

Support group for Douglas Douglass Organization for Occupational and Related Educational Services, Inc. (“DOORS”) is a parent-run organization which provides funding for various social, educational, and recreational services for students of Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center (“DDDC”), located on the Douglass College campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. These programs are essential to the total growth of an individual with autism. Traditionally, however, these kinds of programs don’t often receive funding from state or local agencies, so DOORS was founded to fill the funding gap.
